Shades, and what’s legal
For cars first used on or after 1 April 1985, the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows at least 70%. For cars first used before that date, both must let at least 70% through. There’s no legal limit on the rear side windows or the rear screen.
Factory glass already blocks some light, so we test your glass with a VLT meter and fit legal fronts. Read the official rules on GOV.UK: tinted vehicle windows.

Questions we get asked
How dark can I legally tint my car?
On cars first used from 1 April 1985, the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through and the windscreen at least 75%. There’s no limit on the rear windows or rear screen, so they can go as dark as 5% limo.
How much does window tinting cost?
From £89, and every shade costs the same: the price is based on the size and model of your car. Send us your make and model or give us a call for a free quote.
How long does it take?
It depends on the make and model. Call us with your car and we’ll give you an estimate when you book. A chameleon windscreen usually takes 2 to 3 hours.
Will tint affect my rear demister?
No. The film goes on the inside of the glass and the demister keeps working as normal. On a small number of cars there can be very slight distortion near the heater lines.
Can you tint a car that’s been tinted before?
Yes. If old film or adhesive needs removing first, that may cost extra, and we’ll tell you when we quote.
When can I open my windows after tinting?
Wait 24 hours before winding your windows down, or up to 2 days in winter, so the film can cure properly.
How do I clean tinted windows?
Use any non-ammonia cleaner with a soft microfibre or non-abrasive cloth.
What warranty do I get?
Every installation has a lifetime warranty. If your film ever peels or bubbles, we replace it.
Can I see the shades before I decide?
Yes. Call into the unit on Weston Street to see film samples, and we’ll help you choose the right shade for your car.
