This notice explains what personal information MasterTint UK collects through this website, what we do with it, who else handles it and the choices you have. If anything isn’t clear, just ask us.
Who we are
MasterTint UK Ltd runs this website. We’re registered in England and Wales, company number 11362680, and our registered office is Unit 6b, Hartford House, Weston Street, Bolton, BL3 2AW. Under data protection law we’re the “controller” of the information described here, which means we decide how it’s used.
To ask anything about your information, email mastertintuk@yahoo.com or call 07948 685529.
Asking for a quote
The quote form asks for your car, the work you’re interested in, an optional note, your name and your phone number. We need your name and number to reply; the rest is optional but helps us give you a price. If you press “Book this look” after trying “See it on your car”, the note is filled in with the shades you tried. The picture itself isn’t sent.
There are two ways to send the form:
- Send on WhatsApp opens WhatsApp, which is run by Meta, with your enquiry typed out ready to send to our WhatsApp number. The message is passed to WhatsApp in a link when it opens, and reaches us when you press send there. Your use of WhatsApp is covered by WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy. At the same time, a copy of your enquiry is emailed to us, as described below, even if you then decide not to send the WhatsApp message.
- No WhatsApp? Send by email sends your enquiry to us by email only.
The email is delivered by Web3Forms, a service that turns website forms into emails, to our inbox. Our email is provided by Google (Gmail) and Yahoo. Like any online service, Web3Forms also receives your device’s IP address when the form is sent, and handles it under its own privacy policy.
We use your details only to reply to you, give you a price and, if you go ahead, book and carry out the work. We won’t add you to a mailing list or send you marketing.
The form has two simple checks against spam: a hidden box that only automated programs fill in, and a check that the form wasn’t completed impossibly fast. They don’t collect anything extra about you.
Our lawful basis: taking the steps you’ve asked for before a possible contract (pricing and booking your job), and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and keeping out spam.
See it on your car
This tool shows a photo of your car with tint, a chameleon screen or de-chrome added.
- Your photo stays on your device until you press “Show me”. It’s then made smaller on your device, which also leaves out hidden details some photos carry, such as where they were taken. It’s sent, with the options you picked, through our website’s server (run by Cloudflare) to Google’s Gemini service, which makes the preview. The preview comes straight back to your browser.
- We don’t keep your photo or the preview. Google processes the photo under its Gemini API terms. For paid use like ours, those terms say Google doesn’t use what’s sent to improve its products, and logs it for a limited time only to detect misuse.
- Your photo may show your number plate, people or your home. If you’d rather not share those, crop them out or use a different photo.
- Each visitor can make a limited number of previews a day, to keep costs under control. To count them, our server keeps a scrambled code made from your IP address, the date and a secret value. It never stores your IP address itself, and the code can’t be turned back into it. The code is deleted automatically after two days.
Our lawful basis: our legitimate interest in providing a tool you’ve chosen to use, and in limiting misuse and cost.
Visiting the website
- Hosting. Cloudflare hosts this website. Like any web host, it handles technical information such as your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
- Images. Photos on the site are delivered by Sanity, the system we use to manage the site’s content, so your browser fetches them from Sanity’s servers, which see your IP address in the same way. We don’t put any visitor information into Sanity.
- No tracking. We don’t use analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we don’t build profiles of visitors.
Our lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website.
Links to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Google Maps take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Who else handles your information
We don’t sell your information or share it for marketing. Apart from where the law requires us to share it, the only other organisations involved are the ones named above:
- Cloudflare: website hosting and our server
- Sanity: website content and images
- Google: Gemini for “See it on your car”, and Gmail for our email
- Web3Forms: delivering form emails
- Yahoo: our email
- Meta: WhatsApp, if you choose to contact us that way
Outside the UK
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. They do so under their own safeguards for international transfers, set out in their terms and privacy policies.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries (email and WhatsApp): up to 12 months after our last contact with you. If you become a customer, we keep a record of the job for as long as we need it for your warranty and for our tax and accounting records.
- Your photo for “See it on your car”: not kept by us.
- The scrambled code used to count previews: two days.
- Our service providers keep their own records, such as Google’s misuse logs, for limited periods under their own terms.
Keeping it safe
We use established providers and keep your details to the people who need them to deal with your enquiry or job. No website, email or messaging service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please don’t send anything sensitive beyond what we need for a quote.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- have wrong information corrected
- ask us to delete it
- ask us to limit how we use it
- object to how we use it, where we rely on our legitimate interests
- in some cases, have it sent to you or another organisation in a format that can be reused
To use any of these, email mastertintuk@yahoo.com or call 07948 685529. It’s free, and we’ll reply within one month. We may need to check who you are first.
We don’t make decisions about you by automated means.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
